THE MATCH EXPERIENCE
How the Competition WorksOur monthly Smallbore Silhouette event consists of two 40-shot matches conducted under current NRA silhouette rules. Shooters compete in divisions and classifications appropriate to their equipment and skill level. Standard RifleFirst Match
40 Shots
The event begins with the Standard Rifle match. Competitors engage four sets of steel animal silhouettes, firing 10 shots at each target distance. Hunter RifleSecond Match
40 Shots
The Hunter Rifle match follows immediately after Standard Rifle, using the same four animal target distances. There is no scheduled break between the two matches. Understanding the 40-Shot MatchEach match includes 10 shots at each of four animal target groups: chickens, pigs, turkeys, and rams. Each group is divided into two banks of five targets, with a short break between banks. Shooters are allowed 2.5 minutes to fire five shots during each firing period. Shooter ClassificationsCompetitors shoot in their previously established NRA classification or are classified according to their scores on match day.
